What is a pinched nerve?

A pinched nerve is a general term for the compromise of a nerve which causes peripheral neuropathies such as radiating pain, or paresthesia (numbness and/or tingling) and weakness down the arms or legs.

These nerves can be “pinched” by a bulging or herniated disc, inflammation, bony stenosis (arthritis) and even tight musculature compressing on a nerve. If not attended to, overtime, pinched nerves can cause muscles to diminish (atrophy) leading to more systemic problems.

At Oak Park Health Clinic we’ve successfully treated hundreds of patients with nerve pain or nerve symptoms. Applying therapeutic modalities, stretching and chiropractic adjustments to the affected areas can take pressure off the nerve and restore normal biomechanical function to that region.
